Volunteer
McKemie Place depends on the involvement of people like you. We require financial contributions to keep providing the services we do. But that isn’t all we need. Below is a breakdown of some of the physical supplies needed on a regular basis as well as other ways you can help.
If you could make a commitment to bring a meal or donate some of these articles on a one-time or ongoing basis, it would make a big difference. Or, if you’re a student who needs to perform community service hours, we’d be more than happy to have your assistance. A complete list of needs can be downloaded by clicking here.

Consumables
We use a considerable amount of toilet paper, paper towels, soap and cleaning supplies each month. Plus, the ladies who stay with us often arrive without toiletries, socks and underwear. Your contribution of these items in a variety of sizes is appreciated.

Linens and More
It’s important for McKemie Place to receive regular donations of pillows, blankets, twin-size sheets, bath towels, shower curtains, curtain liners and coverlets. They’re not “consumable,” but they wear out with use over time.

Reading Materials
Evenings often find our ladies lounging in the common room watching TV. But many of them would gladly spend their time reading. If you have novels, magazines, inspirational books or Bibles, we can put them to use here.

Meals
Each night, families, civic or church groups prepare and serve dinner to the 65+ women at our shelter. All you have to do is plan the menu, prepare the meal at home and bring it to the shelter around 5:30 p.m. (Be sure to include utensils and paper goods.) To sign up, send us an email.

Interaction
The ladies of McKemie Place would love to spend time with you in our common area. Perhaps you could plan to devote some extra time with them when you bring a meal. Or join us on a holiday. Whatever the case, positive interaction is appreciated. Please contact us to make arrangements.

Other
Our facility needs upkeep from time to time. If you would be willing to help out, please contact us to make arrangements. We’re always thrilled whenever religious or civic groups are able to provide maintenance, repairs or improvements to the McKemie Place campus.
